It probably said something about the Weets Ilcihl commanders’ eagerness to get out of this system that they finally cooperated with Bnaedjerrny’s request. By making the planned flyby on both sides of the rocky planet, they would be able to sweep most of it in one pass.

“My pardon, Senior,” Bnaedjerrny said as she realised Elyjonn had said something.

“I was just saying that we could still make an adjustment to our current course—much of the southern hemisphere will be blocked,” he said.

“You have the spirit of a true cartographer,” Bnaedjerrny said with a laugh, “blank spaces on the map offend you.”

Elyjonn smiled. “In that regard my guilt is without doubt. Still, I think we could make a bit of an adjustment without having to strain the engines to rejoin the Weets Ilcihl.”

“Well in that case, indulge yourself,” Bnaedjerrny replied as she looked at the display. “Not that I think we will see anything of note.”

Closer examination of the planet surface with the optical sensors had revealed nothing of interest. It was no more than a great rock in space, its core long since gone cold—a place that was unlikely to witness anything of interest between now and the end of the universe.

“Yes, but the blank space gets smaller,” Elyjonn replied.
